What was the issue?

During the 2020 Covid 19 pandemic lockdown, the University of Texas at El Paso’s (UTEP) Human Resources department was searching for creative solutions for their yearly Health Fair event where they invite all of the university’s health care vendors to meet to share their services with staff and faculty. This event was normally held face to face. Needless to say they, due to the covid restrictions, they had to figure out how to get the institution’s everyone together online. After brainstorming with our staff at Creative Studios, the HR Virtual Health Fair was born.

What is a Virtual Health Fair?

A virtual health fair was an online experience where faculty and staff could visit a website that had all the information for vendors organized in a game like environment. It would have single sign on access so we could track the participants for data analysis and to personalize the certificate of completion. The point of the health fair was to have an online experience that could be experienced like an event but from the safety of your own home.

Initial Questions

• How do we motivate people to visit all the vendors sections?
• How do we make the experience feel like an event?
• How do we track the experience?

Challenge

• How do we motivate people to visit all the vendors sections?
• How do we make the experience feel like an event?
• How do we track the experience?

Information Architecture

Mapping out the user flow helped establish the key moments in the experience to entice the user to explore more vendors.
